The cause of its occurrence lies in an unhealthy lifestyle, nutrition, and the overconsumption of fatty and harmful products, according to dietitian and family doctor Yuliia Koval on Instagram.

In particular, the expert explains how to tackle liver obesity without expensive medications.

What is liver obesity?

The expert emphasizes that liver obesity is a civilization disease that can affect anyone. It can be eliminated by following four rules.

It is a non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, which is the most common form of liver disease worldwide. It is a condition where fat accumulates in liver cells, hindering its essential functions over time.

  • Has a sedentary job

  • Does not exercise

  • Has harmful habits

  • Enjoys fatty, sweet, fried food

  • Often overeats, leading to excess weight or obesity

How to overcome liver obesity

  • Normalization of body weight Studies have shown that to reduce liver steatosis, a loss of 3-5% of total body weight is needed, and for improving histopathology, a loss of 7-10% is required.

  • Physical activity Regularly, with the mandatory inclusion of aerobic exercises.

  • Dietary changes Adhere to a meal schedule: it is recommended to eat 3-4 times a day, avoiding constant snacking. Include complex carbohydrates in the diet, such as porridge, bran, whole-grain bread. Add vegetables and greens to each meal. The daily norm is 400-500 g.

However, minimize simple carbohydrates (sweets). It is recommended to avoid packaged juices, sweet carbonated drinks, sugar substitutes, syrups.

Avoid products containing trans fats
