Doctor identified 4 signs of deficiency in essential mineral
General practitioner Dr. Kishan Vithlani has explained the signs that may indicate a deficiency of an essential mineral in the body. The discussion focuses on magnesium, which is crucial for human health, according to the Daily Express.
Why magnesium deficiency is dangerous
"Most people are unaware of the key minerals we need to stock up on during the colder months. One of the most important of these minerals is magnesium, often referred to as the 'miracle' mineral. Magnesium is a mineral necessary for the health of muscles, nerves, bones, and blood sugar levels," explained the doctor.
According to him, if a person doesn't get enough magnesium, problems can arise. The risk of developing diabetes increases, and the heart may start functioning poorly, leading to strokes. Additionally, a magnesium deficiency can contribute to osteoporosis.

How to recognize magnesium deficiency.
The doctor stated that a magnesium deficiency can manifest as one or two symptoms or several at once. The main signs include:
- loss of appetite - this may indicate not only a mineral deficiency but also other issues (illness, stress, medication reactions). However, if nausea or even vomiting occurs, it is advisable to consult a doctor
- seizures and twitching in muscles - one of the most common signs of magnesium deficiency; in severe cases, seizures may occur
- weakness and rapid fatigue - magnesium deficiency affects the nervous system, so if the body starts showing such alarming signals, it is advisable to consult a specialist
- mental health problems - according to the doctor, reduced emotional sensitivity, depression, or other disorders may indicate a mineral deficiency
What to do if you lack magnesium
First of all, it is necessary to consult a doctor. Self-treatment should be avoided. All signs of deficiency should not be a reason to start treatment without consulting a specialist.
