A drone attack by Russian forces in Dnipro caused damage to a high-rise building and fires at a kindergarten and a vocational education facility, according to Vladyslav Haivanenko, head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Military Administration.

"A high-rise building was damaged in Dnipro as a result of a UAV attack. Fires broke out on the grounds of a kindergarten and a vocational education facility," Vladyslav Haivanenko wrote, adding that details are being уточнюються (clarified).

He also stressed that the air-raid alert remains in effect and urged residents to stay in safe places until the all-clear.

Meanwhile, Suspilne, citing its own correspondents, reported explosions in Kryvyi Rih in the Dnipropetrovsk region. Earlier, the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine had warned of a drone attack on Kryvyi Rih.

Attacks on Dnipro and region

Following a Russian drone attack on Dnipro on Monday, January 5, 300 tons of oil spilled onto city roads. Dnipro Mayor Borys Filatov said the strike hit US-owned property, as the plant belongs to Bunge of St. Louis, Missouri.

Hundreds of tons of sand were spread on roads near the drone-damaged oil-extraction plant to contain the spill and prevent it from reaching the river.

On December 31, Russian forces also attacked Dnipropetrovsk Oblast with drones and artillery, hitting the Nikopol district and the Marhanets, Myriv, Pokrov, and Chervonohryhorivka communities, damaging a house of culture and a private home.

A day earlier, on December 30, authorities in the Synelnykove district announced a mandatory evacuation from several settlements due to heightened risks to life and safety amid ongoing hostilities.
