Ukrainian border guards destroyed a shelter and three Russian positions in the Northern-Slobozhanskyi sector of the Sumy region, using FPV drones, the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine reported.

The operation was carried out with FPV drones, which made it possible to detect and destroy targets without risk to personnel. The operators demonstrated high effectiveness in using drones in border areas.

“Border guard FPV-drone operators of the Steel Border destroyed a shelter and three enemy positions in the Northern-Slobozhanskyi sector,” the statement says.

Situation in Sumy region

In June, a new frontline sector emerged due to increased Russian activity near the border in the Sumy region. It was named the Northern-Slobozhanskyi sector.

According to the General Staff’s morning update as of August 27, Ukrainian units repelled 15 enemy attacks over the past day in both the Northern-Slobozhanskyi and Kursk directions.

The enemy also carried out three airstrikes, dropping five guided aerial bombs, and conducted 201 shelling attacks, including one with MLRS.

In mid-August, the Ukrainian units moved forward in several directions. In particular, near Yablunivka in the Sumy region, the advance reached about one kilometer.

Earlier, the Defense Forces liberated the village of Bezsalivka from the Russian occupation in the Sumy region.

Meanwhile, the State Border Guard Service reported that enemy sabotage and assault groups remain active in the border areas. According to UK intelligence, Russian forces have not achieved any notable successes in the Sumy region in recent weeks.
