Ukrainian forces advanced at several locations in the north of the country, including progress recorded near Yablunivka in Sumy region, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

"Over the past day, as a result of active operations in the Northern-Slobozhanske direction, Ukrainian units advanced at several locations, including up to 1,000 meters near Yablunivka in Sumy region," the statement said.

In its morning report, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine noted that in the Northern-Slobozhanskyi and Kursk directions, Ukrainian soldiers repelled three enemy assault actions over the past day.

However, the enemy carried out 13 airstrikes, dropping 26 guided aerial bombs (KABs), and launched 279 attacks on positions of Ukrainian forces and populated areas, including 11 with multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS).

Fighting in Sumy region

Russia has intensified offensive actions along the Sumy region border in recent months. The Russian army seeks to create a so-called "buffer zone."

The State Border Guard Service reported that enemy sabotage and reconnaissance groups (DRGs) and small assault units are actively operating in border areas. According to British intelligence, in recent weeks Russian forces have not achieved any significant gains in Sumy region.

Recently, Ukraine's Defense Forces liberated and cleared the village of Bezsalivka in Sumy region from Russian occupiers.
