Today, August 15, the first summit between the leaders of the US and Russia since the full-scale war in Ukraine will take place in Alaska. This meeting was arranged last week following a visit by US envoy Steve Witkoff to Moscow.

The meeting is expected to take place in a three-on-three format, although it was initially planned as a one-on-one negotiation. Afterwards, discussions will continue in a delegation format.

The main issue on the agenda is ending Russia’s war against Ukraine. Ahead of the meeting, Trump stated that he wants to leave the negotiations with "some form of ceasefire in Ukraine."

In addition, if the negotiations in Alaska are successful, a trilateral meeting involving Zelenskyy, Putin, and Trump may take place.
