Destroyed houses and 11 dead: Update on Pokrovsk shelling
Russian occupants shelled Pokrovsk, Donetsk region, last night. The enemy attack killed more than ten people, including children.
The following sources were used in the preparation of the material: Telegram channels of Vadym Filashkin, head of the Donetsk Regional Military Administration, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the National Police, and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.
What happened
On the night of January 6, Russian invaders struck Pokrovsk. As a result of the attack, a garage and cars caught fire in the town.
In addition, an administrative building was hit.
What is known so far
As of 6:10 p.m., the head of the military administration said that 11 people, including five children, were killed in the Russian strike on the Pokrovsk district. Eight more people were wounded.
According to him, the Russians hit the area with S-300 missiles. The main impact was on Pokrovsk and Rivne of the Myrnohrad community.
Situation in Rivne
In Rivne, a private house with 6 people, including 3 children, was completely destroyed. Search operations are currently underway.
Situation in Pokrovsk
Law enforcement officials also noted that the necessary services are working at the sites of the strikes in Pokrovsk. A search and rescue operation is currently underway.
According to them, at the time of the strike, there were 5 people in the house, including two children - boys aged 15 and 17.
Zelenskyy's reaction
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized that not a single strike by the Russian Federation on peaceful cities in Ukraine will remain without consequences.
"Russia must feel - always feel - that no such strike will pass without consequences for the terrorist state. We must ensure this with our strength, our own defense, and political capabilities," the President emphasized.
As a reminder, on January 1, Russians also launched a missile attack on Pokrovsk. A 9-year-old girl was injured in the shelling.
Later, the Donetsk Regional Prosecutor's Office clarified that a 70-year-old woman was also injured.
