Designers name 5 things that should be in every living room
The living room is one of the most important rooms in the house. It's where everyone gathers with friends and family. The design of the living room should be attractive and cozy, but it takes more than just finding an exceptionally comfortable sofa, according to the Real Simple website.
Right focus
Designers Shawn and Tina Taylor have emphasized that every well-designed living room requires a focal point. Whether it's a piece of furniture or a captivating piece of art, this focal point draws attention and anchors the room.
However, according to interior designer Barrett Cooke, the focal point should not be the television. It should either be a fireplace or a beautiful piece of art, allowing the room to be more than just a space for watching TV.

Right colors
The Taylors emphasize that color is crucial for a well-designed living room. It's worth adhering to the 60-30-10 rule to create the perfect balance. 60% should be the primary color, 30% the secondary color, and 10% the accent color.
According to experts, the 60% could be the color of your walls, the 30% could be curtains or a rug, and the remaining 10% could be small accents or decorative elements.
Variety of seating options
Interior designer Francesca Grace explains that having a variety of seating options not only adds visual interest but also gives your guests more choices to feel at home in your space.

Rug
Rugs not only anchor and define the seating area in the living room but also provide softness underfoot. A cozy rug is essential for every living room, as it's the room where everyone gathers to spend most of their time.
Don't forget to measure and ensure that your rug is large enough to accommodate half of your sofa and coffee table.

Good lighting
Even if your living room has plenty of natural light, you still need additional lighting, especially if you're using the space at night.
Proper lighting is crucial for both functionality and creating ambiance. Combining overhead, task, and accent lighting allows you to flexibly create moods and highlight key elements of the room.
