The government and parliament of Denmark have reached a consensus regarding the possible deployment of troops to Ukraine to support a future peace settlement, states Denmark's Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Defense, Lars Løkke Rasmussen and Troels Lund Poulsen, according to DR.

As reported by the media, the heads of Denmark's Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Defense met today with members of the parliamentary foreign policy committee. During the meeting, they explained the government's position on sending peacekeeping troops to Ukraine and received support from a broad range of parliamentary parties.

"It is important that we in Europe send the right signals to both Putin and Washington. This is what we are doing today by saying: 'If it comes to the point where a ceasefire or peace agreement requires a European presence, Denmark is, in principle, ready to do that,'" said Rasmussen.

According to Poulsen, however, there are no specific plans to send troops to Ukraine yet.

"We have not made a decision to take on specific commitments. It will depend on how events unfold. Therefore, this is a manifestation of proper caution," explained Denmark's Minister of Defense.

Media reports have indicated that Europe is developing a plan to send soldiers to Ukraine. According to the latest information, European countries are ready to allocate up to 30,000 soldiers for such a mission.
