In the territory of the Odesa region, existing defensive fortifications are being renovated, reinforced, and new ones are being created. Approximately 150 individuals and 80 pieces of equipment are involved in this effort, stated the head of the Odesa Regional Military Administration, Oleh Kiper.

"The enemy is cunning and merciless. And the war continues. The primary task is to prevent the enemy from seizing new territories. Therefore, strengthening the region's defense capabilities is the top priority," the statement reads.

Currently, the region is actively constructing fortifications, setting up defensive barriers such as dragon's teeth, anti-tank ditches, and other non-explosive obstacles.

"Our readiness to resist the enemy, as well as the systematic approach to the construction of fortifications, serve as a powerful deterrent to the aggressor. Ukrainians are strong and united in their desire to defend themselves and overcome the enemy. Through collective actions, we will prevail," stated the Odesa Regional Military Administration.

It is worth noting that in Latvia, a plan to strengthen the border has been approved. This strategy for enhancing defense capability and mobility on the eastern border is a component of the Baltic Defense Line. It will involve the placement of support points for military units of the National Armed Forces (NAF) along the border with Russia and Belarus.

These are defensive structures, fortified positions, obstacles, anti-tank ditches, and ammunition depots. Over the course of five years, the defense sector plans to invest 303 million euros in strengthening the border. The start of the work is scheduled for March.
