Death toll in Kyiv rises: 8 killed and 45 injured in Russian attack

The death toll from Russia’s overnight attack on Kyiv has risen to eight, while the number of injured has reached 45. Rescuers continue clearing the rubble of a residential building, where people may still be trapped, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and the Kyiv City Military Administration report
“Right now in Kyiv, first responders are clearing the rubble of an ordinary residential building after a Russian strike. Another massive attack against our cities and communities. Killings again. Tragically, at least 8 people have already been confirmed dead. One of them is a child. My condolences to all their families and loved ones,” Zelenskyy said.
According to the Kyiv City Military Administration, as of 08:30 a.m. local time, the number of injured in the Russian strike on the capital rose to 45. The information is being updated.
Attack on Kyiv on August 28
Overnight into Thursday, August 28, Russian troops launched another massive strike on Kyiv. The enemy attacked the capital with Shahed drones, cruise missiles, and ballistic missiles, including Kinzhals.
Powerful explosions sounded across the city. Kyiv mayor Vitali Klitschko reported nearly 40 injured. Authorities recorded damage at 20 locations, with up to 100 facilities affected.
In the Darnytskyi district, a Russian missile hit a five-story apartment building. Initial reports said three people had been killed.
Also in Darnytskyi district, two more apartment buildings, a private house, and a kindergarten sustained damage.
In addition, Intercity+ passenger trains came under Russian attack.
