Deal with the USA on rare earth metals is not enough to end the war in Ukraine. The military needs weapons to defend against Russian occupiers' attacks, states Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy during a meeting with US President Donald Trump at the White House.

"Putin has violated the ceasefire 25 times. Therefore, we will not agree to a ceasefire without security guarantees. This document (minerals deal - ed.) is not enough," said Zelenskyy.

He noted that "Russian soldiers will fear us if we are strong."

"If we are not strong enough, if our storages are empty, we will not be able to defend ourselves," added the President.

Zelenskyy's visit to the USA

Today, on February 28, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is visiting the USA.

The head of state has already met with American senators. He is now at the White House for a meeting with US President Donald Trump.

Additionally, today an agreement regarding minerals is expected to be signed between Ukraine and the USA. On behalf of Ukraine, it will be signed by Minister of Foreign Affairs Andrii Sybiha and First Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Economy Yulia Svyrydenko.
