Dead and injured after Russian drone hits mourning column in Sumy

On May 23 in Sumy, a Russian drone attacked a funeral procession. Doctors tried to save a severely wounded man, but he later died in hospital, according to the Sumy Regional Military Administration, Oleh Hryhorov.
"A cynical attack. Today, a Russian drone struck a funeral procession on the outskirts of Sumy," Hryhorov said.
Initially, authorities reported nine people injured. Four received medical assistance on site, while several others were hospitalized.
One of the wounded was in critical condition, and doctors carried out resuscitation measures. Another seriously injured person underwent surgery.
Later, the head of the regional administration reported that one of the victims had died in hospital.
"Unfortunately, a man who sustained severe injuries as a result of the Russian strike on the funeral procession in Sumy has died in hospital," Hryhorov wrote.
According to him, doctors did everything possible to save the man. The identity of the deceased is currently being established.
Emergency services are working at the scene of the attack, and authorities are clarifying all circumstances and consequences.
As a reminder, on the night of May 23, Russia launched a large-scale attack on Ukraine using 124 strike drones of various types, including Shahed, Gerbera, and Italmas. Air defense forces shot down or suppressed 102 enemy drones, although impacts and debris were recorded in several regions.
