The Ukrainian national team has preserved its leading positions in the overall ranking at the 2026 Winter Paralympics after the third day of competition. Even without any Ukrainian athletes competing on this day, the team remains in second place, according to the official results.
A day without Ukrainian events and the successes of alpine skiers
The third day of the 2026 Winter Games marked the first day when Ukrainian athletes did not participate in finals or qualifications.
The focus of fans and experts shifted to the alpine skiing slopes, where medals were contested in the super-G.
Winners were determined in six categories: sitting, standing, and visually impaired athletes.
The most successful in this discipline were competitors from Austria, Italy, the USA, and France, with each country winning two medals of various ranks.
Medal table situation: Austria catching up to Ukraine
Although the blue-and-yellow team did not add new medals, the lead they had built earlier allowed them to retain the second spot in the world ranking.
Ukraine currently has 10 medals, including 3 golds.
However, the competition is intensifying: Austria, thanks to its successes in alpine skiing, has now also won 3 gold medals and is closing in on Ukraine.
China remains the undisputed leader, significantly ahead of other countries in both gold medals and total medal count.
