Dangerous magnetic storm approaching: Protect yourself with these tips

A strong magnetic storm will hit Earth in the coming hour, and it may cause deterioration in the well-being of many people on our planet. The intensity of this geomagnetic storm will be significant, and it could also cause communication issues. What is known about this magnetic storm, and what effective ways exist to reduce its impact on human well-being?
What is known about the magnetic storm
According to experts, on the night of July 2, a powerful magnetic storm hit Earth, which could reach levels G2-G3 (Kp 6-7) during peak hours. This storm will last some time, and the situation will only improve closer to the weekend.
July 2, Wednesday: increase in geomagnetic activity to Kp 6
July 3, Thursday: strong geomagnetic activity at levels Kp 5-6
July 4, Friday: gradual decrease in geomagnetic activity, from Kp 5 to Kp 4
It is expected that only on Saturday, July 5, the geomagnetic situation will begin to stabilize and decrease to a moderate and weak storm level.
The effects of the magnetic geomagnetic storm may already be felt on the evening of July 1 by: weather-sensitive individuals, people with chronic illnesses, elderly individuals, and young children.
What is a magnetic storm?
Daily solar flares and explosions on the Sun result in a large number of charged particles being ejected into space, which move quickly and can travel toward Earth. When they reach our planet's magnetosphere, they cause disturbances called solar or magnetic storms.
All magnetic storms are classified by their intensity: from weak and barely noticeable to strong. The stronger the storm, the worse the consequences for human life.
How magnetic storms affect people
Studies show that people do not feel fluctuations in Earth's magnetic field, but they can strongly impact biological rhythms. These fluctuations lead to deterioration in well-being, mood, and overall health.
Potential problems may include:
- Headache and migraine
- Dizziness, ringing in the ears
- Mental fog
- Nausea
- Decreased concentration, attention
- Pressure jumps, heart rhythm disturbances
- Strong daytime sleepiness, sleep problems at night
- Increased anxiety
- Extreme fatigue
- Panic moods and apathy
- Aggression
- Irritability
- Exacerbation of chronic illnesses
How to reduce the impact of magnetic storms on health
It is impossible to completely avoid the impact of magnetic storms on the human body. However, doctors recommend following guidelines to help reduce the negative effects.
First and foremost, try not to overload your body physically or psychologically on such days. Reduce your workout intensity, avoid arguments, rest more, and postpone important and energy-draining tasks for another day.
Stick to a regular schedule and diet: sleep at least 7-9 hours a day, go to bed and wake up at a fixed time, and take short breaks to rest if you feel very tired.
Your diet should include a lot of vegetables and fruits, and foods with good macros. It's best to avoid much coffee, energy drinks, alcohol, and fatty, unhealthy foods.
Drink enough plain water, ventilate rooms, spend more time outdoors, take walks in the fresh air, and reduce stress levels. Limit your news and social media consumption, and try not to overload your nervous system with screens at least 2-3 hours before bedtime.
If your health is concerning, and medications for chronic conditions aren't helping, seek medical advice.
