On the night of August 20, Russia launched a massive strike on Kyiv and the surrounding region; missiles and drones damaged residential buildings and a children’s hospital. At least 14 people were killed, and another 40 were injured.

RBC-Ukraine correspondents report on the aftermath of the attack on the capital.

The scale of the nighttime attack

The attack on Kyiv and the surrounding region lasted nearly 9 hours straight. The enemy fired dozens of missiles and jet-powered drones at civilian targets.

As of this moment, at least 14 people are known to have been killed.

Another 40 people were injured and are receiving the necessary medical care. Missiles and drones struck residential buildings, a kindergarten, and a children’s hospital in Kyiv’s Solomianskyi district. No children or medical staff were harmed.

Despite the damage, the medical facility continues to treat patients. The technical facilities sustained the most damage. One of them was reduced to its foundation.

Strikes on the Kyiv region and the capital

In Boryspil, Russian forces struck food warehouses and Red Cross facilities; rescue workers are still extinguishing fires there. Civilian infrastructure in the Odesa and Chernihiv regions was also damaged.

August 21 was declared a Day of Mourning in Kyiv. All entertainment events have been canceled.

The enemy struck Kyiv and the surrounding region with ballistic missiles, Kalibr cruise missiles, and drones.
