The Russian region of Buryatia has been partially flooded due to a dam breach. Russian officials have declared a state of emergency, according to Buryatia’s head, Alexey Tsydenov, on Telegram.

A major flood has hit Buryatia, with the Khonkholoy Dam in the Mukhorshibirsky district failing due to the high volume of water.

According to the head of Buryatia, two sections of the federal highway "Ulan-Ude - Chita" have been submerged, and traffic has been blocked. Additionally, three bridges have been washed out due to rising water levels in the rivers.

The so-called government of Buryatia has reported that houses have been flooded, but there are no reported casualties or injuries. Russian authorities claim that over 100 people have been evacuated.

A regional state of emergency has been declared in the affected areas.
