In the city of Karabash, Chelyabinsk region, today, July 26, the dam of the Kialim Reservoir burst. A large number of houses have been flooded, according to Russian Telegram channels.

According to reports online, after the dam burst, water is spreading very quickly between the pumping station and the reservoir's sluices.

Telegram channels are posting videos showing how people have climbed onto the roofs of their houses to escape the flooding.

Residents of the Russian villages of Kialim, Mukhametovo, Saktayevo, Karasaevo, and Baydashevo are in the affected areas.

According to unconfirmed reports, water overflowed from the top of the dam sluices earlier today, July 25. Local authorities are said to have warned residents about this possibility.

The breach was preceded by a Caspian cyclone that had been flooding the region for several days.

A state of emergency has been declared in the Karabash urban district, and the Russians plan to begin evacuation.

In April of this year, the Russian city of Orsk in the Orenburg region also experienced flooding due to a dam breach.

Local authorities at that time urged residents to evacuate urgently due to the threat of flooding. The incident resulted in reported fatalities.
