The Czech initiative Dárek pro Putina raised more than $3.8 million in just a few days for energy assistance to Ukraine, according to a statement by Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha.
“Next week, 49 generators of various capacities, collected with the support of the Czech civic organization Post Bellum, will be delivered to Kharkiv,” he said.
The minister added that on Sunday, January 25, 40 battery power stations and 1,500 extension cords will be delivered to the Kyiv region for Ukraine’s Points of Resilience, thanks to assistance from the Central Bohemian Region of Czechia. In addition, part of the funding will be allocated to strengthening the cybersecurity of Kyiv’s police force.
“This is an example of true solidarity. Czechia is showing that support for Ukraine is not just words, but concrete actions that save lives and strengthen our resilience,” Sybiha emphasized.
Energy support for Ukraine
On January 23, Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko said that Ukraine’s partners had announced new support packages. They include more than 6,000 units of large-scale energy equipment as well as contributions to the Ukraine Energy Support Fund.
In addition, two more cogeneration units from Germany are set to arrive in Kyiv next week. These units will generate both electricity and heat simultaneously.
Energy restoration efforts are ongoing not only in the capital but also in other regions. In total, 17 countries are already providing Ukraine with energy equipment assistance.
Earlier, Energy Minister Denys Shmyhal said that Ukraine has received more than 50 tons of technical assistance from its partners to help restore the energy sector. The shipments came from the Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland, Finland, Spain, and Norway.
