Czech President Pavel warns Ukraine war could last for years

Czech President Pavel warns Ukraine war could last for years Czech President Petr Pavel (Vitalii Nosach, RBC-Ukraine)

The full-scale war between Ukraine and Russia may last for years if it continues in the same manner, Czech President Petr Pavel said in an interview with the BBC.

According to Pavel, Russian forces have managed to occupy parts of Ukrainian territory, but at the cost of heavy casualties and losses.

"So far, Ukraine's defense has been successful because they are inflicting significant damage on Russian troops. They are able to hold positions, especially in areas that are crucial for Ukraine. And if the war continues in this way, it will last for years. This situation is unacceptable for everyone," he added.

The President of Czechia emphasized that, in addition to supporting Ukraine, it is also crucial to exert maximum pressure on Russia and to demonstrate that "there is no victory on the battlefield."

Czechia's support for Ukraine

Since the first days of Russia's full-scale invasion, Czechia has been actively supporting Ukraine. Prague has provided substantial military aid, including tanks, artillery, ammunition, and training for Ukrainian troops.

On the diplomatic front, Czechia has consistently advocated for tougher sanctions against Russia and supports Ukraine's European integration.

At the end of May, the Czech company LPP Holding developed AI-guided drones resistant to jamming. Hundreds of these drones have already been delivered to Kyiv.
