Czech Foreign Minister criticizes Slovak PM Fico’s visit to Moscow
Czech Foreign Minister Jan Lipavský criticized Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico for his visit to Moscow. Such a move is crawling "in front of a mass murderer", according to Sky News.
The Czech Foreign Minister, commenting on Fico's trip to Putin, noted that Czechia had previously decided to refuse to supply Russian gas.
"It was the Czech government that secured independence from Russian energy supplies so that we wouldn't have to crawl in front of a mass murderer,'" Lipavský stated.
He also pointed out that the current Czech government decided earlier this year to postpone intergovernmental consultations with Slovakia. Such an action becomes "more prudent with every step the Slovak government takes."
Fico’s visit to Moscow
As previously reported, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico traveled to Moscow on December 22 for a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Fico’s visit is believed to be connected with Ukraine's decision to halt gas transit to Europe. Supplies will stop as early as January 1, 2025.
Fico later complained that President Zelenskyy’s refusal to continue Russian gas transit is harming Slovakia.
However, Zelenskyy noted that discounts on gas from Russia are usually paid with sovereignty or shadow schemes.
