Cybertruck explosion in Las Vegas: Police discovered fuel canisters and fireworks
On Wednesday, a Cybertruck exploded near the entrance of the Trump International Hotel Las Vegas, resulting in the death of the driver and injuries to seven people. Police discovered fuel canisters and fireworks inside the pickup truck, reports Axios.
Speaking at a briefing, Clark County Police Sheriff Kevin McMahill stated that fuel canisters and large firework mortars (pyrotechnics) were found in the rear of the truck.
Earlier, Tesla CEO Elon Musk wrote on the social media platform X that the explosion was caused by a very powerful firework or bomb being transported in the bed of a rented Cybertruck and clarified that it was not related to the vehicle itself.
US President Joe Biden, speaking on television Wednesday evening, said law enforcement officials are investigating a possible connection between the Cybertruck explosion and the vehicle attack on a crowd in New Orleans, which left at least 15 people dead.
Elon Musk stated that the explosion of the pickup truck produced by his company could be an act of terrorism.
He also suggested a possible connection between this event and the incident in New Orleans. The billionaire noted that in both cases, the vehicles had been rented through Turo, a platform that allows car owners to rent out their vehicles.
