A ministry spokesperson did not specify which systems were affected but emphasized that the cyberattack did not impact financial operations.
"The provision of services to citizens and businesses by the tax authority, customs service, and social benefits service has not changed," she said.
An investigation has been launched into the cyberattack, which the IT security service identified as "unauthorized access."
A wave of cyberattacks recently targeted Iranian government services, media outlets, and popular apps simultaneously with US and Israeli military strikes. Hackers breached several news platforms and the religious app BadeSaba, which has over 5 million users.
In addition, hackers recently carried out a cyberattack on a contractor for the National Bank’s numismatics online store, potentially stealing customers’ personal data.
Notably, in October last year, the UK began investigating a large-scale breach of Ministry of Defense systems carried out by a Russian hacker group, reportedly the Lynx group.
The attackers accessed the network through Dodd Group, a contractor servicing military facilities. As a result, hackers obtained secret documents, internal correspondence, and personal data of about 272,000 service members and veterans, including their banking details.
