Google Maps has updated satellite imagery of the Crimean Bridge, which shows large-scale defensive structures built by Russia to protect the facility from potential attacks.

In the released high-resolution images, it is possible to see the defense system deployed by Russian forces around the crossing over the Kerch Strait.

In particular, the images show barges positioned along the approaches to the bridge, as well as anti-sabotage and boom barriers in the water. Some of the structures are placed directly near the navigation channel that passes under the bridge’s main arch span.

Russia began actively installing such structures after a series of attacks on the Crimean Bridge and the increasing threat of maritime drone strikes.

The Crimean Bridge is one of the key logistical routes for supplying Russian forces in the temporarily occupied peninsula, so its protection remains a priority for Russia. New satellite images indicate that defensive measures around the site continue to be reinforced.

On the night of June 21, a series of explosions was heard in temporarily occupied Crimea. As a result, the Russian authorities temporarily closed traffic on the Crimean Bridge, while residents in the area of the Kerch Sea Port reported a fire and thick smoke.

Later, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Ukrainian forces had struck targets on both sides of the Kerch Bridge. According to him, the objects were located approximately 300 km from the front line.
