Legendary forward of the Portugal national team and Saudi club Al-Nassr, Cristiano Ronaldo, has officially entered the football business as an investor. The 41-year-old player has acquired a significant stake in Spanish club Almería, according to the club’s official website.

CR7 enters Segunda

According to official data, Ronaldo has become a minority owner of the club, acquiring 25% of its shares. The transaction was carried out through the Portuguese star’s investment company, CR7 Sports Investments, which manages his assets in real estate and fashion.

While the exact value of the investment has not been disclosed, the deal was confirmed by Almería president Mohamed Al Khereiji. He noted that Cristiano’s experience in Spanish football would be key for the strategic development of the team.

Contribution "beyond the pitch"

Ronaldo, whose contract with Saudi side Al-Nassr runs until summer 2027, explained that his decision reflects a desire to develop football in a new role.

"For a long time, my ambition has been to contribute to football beyond the pitch. UD Almería has strong foundations and clear growth potential. I look forward to working with the leadership team to support the Club’s next phase," Ronaldo said.

Interestingly, in May 2025, Almería was acquired by a Saudi investment group. This means Ronaldo’s business ties in Saudi Arabia are now directly linked with his assets in Europe.

What is known about Almería

Founded in 1989, the club is currently going through a period of revival after being relegated from La Liga in 2024.

Throughout its history, Almería has spent eight seasons in Spain’s elite division. Its best finish remains eighth place in the 2007/08 season.

Notably, during his time at Real Madrid, Cristiano was a true nemesis for the "Rojiblancos." He played seven matches against the team, scoring seven goals.

In the 2025/26 season, Almería is among the leaders of Segunda. After 27 rounds, the Andalusian club sits in third place, just two points behind the leader, Racing.

This gives Almería a strong chance of returning to the top division, which would significantly increase the value of the Portuguese star’s new assets.
