What is known about the corvette Ivan Mazepa
The Hetman Ivan Mazepa (hull number F211) is an anti-submarine corvette of the Ada class, built by Türkiye for Ukraine at a shipyard in Istanbul.
It is set to become the flagship of the Ukrainian Navy. The corvette is expected to replace the frigate Hetman Sahaidachnyi (hull number F130), which was scuttled by Ukrainian forces to prevent its capture in Mykolaiv (on March 2-3, 2022) following Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
The corvette was laid down in September 2021. The official launching ceremony of the vessel took place on October 2, 2022, at the shipyard in Istanbul.
As of March 2024, Ukrainian soldiers were already undergoing training for future service aboard the Hetman Ivan Mazepa.
