In Hungary, another controversial statement has been made regarding Ukraine. It was proposed not to admit Ukraine to NATO and instead provide security guarantees to Russia, according to Hirado.

The head of the office of the Hungarian Prime Minister, Gergely Gulyás, made a controversial statement. He suggested that the Western world, which supports Ukraine, should provide security guarantees to Russia instead of granting NATO membership to Ukraine.

He stated, "The Western world, which supports Ukraine, should provide security guarantees to Russia, but under no circumstances should they grant NATO membership to the Ukrainians."

According to the Hungarian official, the deployment of peacekeepers and similar decisions in the long term could ensure peace in Ukraine. He is confident that Ukraine will not be able to regain the territories occupied by Russia.

Furthermore, Gulyás stated that effective negotiations between Ukraine and Russia could only take place with the involvement of the United States. In his opinion, Russia does not pose a threat to Central Europe because it has not achieved significant and striking results in Ukraine over the past one and a half years.

Hungarian stance in the war

Hungary, under Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, has taken a pro-Russian stance. Orbán has often made statements to discredit Ukraine.

Hungary has not provided military assistance to Ukraine since the beginning of the full-scale war, has blocked European Union sanctions against Russia, and continues to engage in trade with Russia.

Additionally, representatives of the Hungarian government have visited Moscow.
