Congressmen urge Speaker Johnson to immediately consider aid to Ukraine and Israel
Over 90 members of the US House of Representatives call on speaker Mike Johnson to consider a bill on funds for Ukraine and Israel, according to the letter of Josh Gottheimer.
In the letter, the congressmen reminded that this weekend the Iranian regime used hundreds of drones, cruise missiles, and ballistic missiles to strike at the US ally Israel.
In this context, Speaker Johnson was urged to immediately put to a vote the $95 billion package that the Senate supported in February.
The congressmen note that the bill received 70 votes out of 100 in the Senate, and if it is considered by the House of Representatives, the document could be sent to US President Joe Biden the same day.
US aid to Ukraine
The United States has not been providing military aid to Ukraine for several months. Congress is unable to allocate funding.
Back in February, the U.S. Senate passed a bill that would allocate about $60 billion to help Ukraine. But it has not passed the House of Representatives.
House Speaker Mike Johnson refuses to bring the bill to the floor for consideration, insisting on amendments. Specifically, he allows for the possibility of providing assistance to Ukraine in the form of loans.
