Coming days and weeks may be decisive for war in Ukraine – Stubb

Western countries are actively working toward a lasting peace between Russia and Ukraine. The coming days and weeks are likely to be decisive, said Finnish President Alexander Stubb.
Stubb said that the videoconference with US President Donald Trump, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, and European leaders was "excellent."
"Aligned views and unity. We are working together for a ceasefire and a sustainable peace. We are there for Ukraine every step of the way. The next few days and weeks can be decisive," the Finnish leader added.
Trump–Putin meeting
US President Donald Trump will meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin on August 15.
It is expected that the American leader will discuss with the head of the Kremlin the possibility of a ceasefire with Ukraine.
Putin himself has already refused an unconditional ceasefire with Ukraine. Russia has demanded that Ukraine begin withdrawing its troops from four regions as a precondition for starting a truce.
Notably, earlier US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said that Trump would use the sanctions factor in negotiations with Putin.
