On July 13, members of the Coalition of the Willing will discuss steps to significantly strengthen Ukraine’s air defense, Reuters reports.

According to insiders, during the meeting in Paris, Kyiv’s allies will make further commitments to strengthen Ukraine’s air defense.

They were prompted to make these decisions by Russia’s increasingly intense ballistic missile attacks.

On July 13, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and more than 25 world leaders will participate in a meeting of the Coalition of the Willing.

Their focus will be on the following topics:

  • Search for additional interceptor missiles for the Patriot systems;
  • Accelerating the deployment of the Franco-Italian SAMP/T systems;
  • Development of new European air defense systems with the involvement of the Ukrainian defense industry.

Kyiv’s allies are aware that Ukraine is facing an acute shortage of air defense ammunition, making it increasingly difficult for the country to intercept Russian ballistic missiles. The search for solutions continues.

In addition to military aid, plans are also in place to discuss applying additional pressure on Russia, specifically:

  • Tightening sanctions against the Russian shadow fleet
  • Supporting the European Union’s new 21st sanctions package.

French President Emmanuel Macron is also expected to announce new bilateral projects to produce weapons for Ukraine and conduct joint military exercises.

Macron is assembling a Coalition of the Willing in Paris with a very specific goal in mind.

Ukraine plans to purchase weapons from Britain using a loan from the European Union.

It has emerged that several of Kyiv’s allies are proposing a new approach to financing defense to support Ukraine.
