Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha held bilateral talks with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi in Munich.

"We focused on ways to develop mutually beneficial trade and bilateral ties based on reciprocal respect for territorial integrity. I reiterated Ukraine’s interest in contacts with China at the highest level. We discussed peace efforts and China’s important role in facilitating an end to the war," Sybiha says.

He also informs his Chinese counterpart about the situation on the front lines, Russian attacks on the energy system, and the damage caused to Chinese companies as a result of Russian strikes.

"I am grateful for Beijing’s decision to provide an additional humanitarian energy assistance package to Ukraine," the Ukrainian Foreign Minister adds.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister invites Wang Yi to visit Ukraine and thanked him for the invitation to visit China.

China has recently been the largest importer of Russian oil. In addition, due to the significant reduction in the cost of raw materials as a result of international sanctions, Beijing is significantly increasing imports by sea.

China's assistance to Ukraine

Since the start of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, China has only publicly announced the transfer of aid to Kyiv a few times.

In early March 2022, the Chinese Foreign Ministry announced the allocation of $1.5 million in humanitarian aid through the Red Cross.

At the same time, last year, China expressed its readiness to participate in Ukraine's post-war reconstruction. Li Ming, spokesperson for the Chinese Agency for International Development and Cooperation, emphasized that the assistance would be provided in accordance with the wishes of the parties. At the same time, the spokesperson announced that China had provided Ukraine with four shipments of humanitarian aid since the start of the war.
