China says war in Ukraine has reached critical point for peace efforts

China supports Ukraine-Russia talks and believes the war settlement process has reached a critical point, according to the Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi.
On Wednesday, August 6, the Chinese Foreign Minister held a phone conversation with Celso Amorim, Special Adviser to the President of Brazil on international affairs.
The two sides exchanged views on the "Ukrainian crisis" (China's term for Russia's war against Ukraine). Wang Yi said that the "consensus" reached between China and Pakistan had played a positive role in de-escalating the "crisis."
"Russia and Ukraine have already begun negotiations, taking an important step forward. The current crisis resolution process has reached a critical juncture," the statement says.
The parties also confirmed their readiness to promote a ceasefire, peace talks, and other steps toward a "political resolution of the crisis."
China's position on war
China claims to hold a so-called neutral position on Russia's war against Ukraine. However, Beijing continues to cooperate with Moscow, and Chinese companies are supplying dual-use goods to Russia, which can be used in the production of weapons.
The Economist previously reported that China has become the main supplier for Russia's war machine. Beijing may have even provided Moscow with lethal weapons.
According to the Spokesperson for the Ukrainian Foreign Intelligence Service, Russia plans to produce 2 million FPV drones this year using Chinese components.
