China responds to massive attack on Kyiv: Here’s what Beijing proposes

China called to avoid further escalation of the war in Ukraine and to create conditions for a political settlement of the conflict, Newsweek reports.
In particular, the Spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China, Guo Jiakun, said that there should be “no escalation of hostilities, and no fanning the flames.”
Despite supporting Russia, Beijing has previously declared its readiness to try to help stop the war in Ukraine.
“We believe that all sides should uphold a common, comprehensive, cooperative, and sustainable security concept, and work to promote a political resolution of the Ukraine crisis,” Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Mao Ning said last Friday.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun also urged all sides to follow the three principles.
Jiakun emphasized that all parties should not spread the conflict beyond the battlefield, escalate hostilities, or fuel the fire, noting that these measures were important for de-escalating the situation and creating conditions for a political settlement of the crisis.
Attack on Kyiv
Last night, Russian troops carried out one of the largest attacks on Kyiv in recent times, using a significant number of missiles and strike drones.
In the Darnytskyi district of the capital, an enemy missile hit a five-story residential building, completely destroying one of its entrances. Preliminary reports indicate that the enemy target struck around the third–fourth floor, causing extensive damage.
In general, residential areas and infrastructure facilities were damaged across the city, with casualties reported. The attack forced the closure of traffic on several key streets.
Rescue services continue clearing debris and assisting the affected. Residents of the capital are urged to remain in shelters and follow safety rules.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reacted to the shelling and addressed international partners, including China and Hungary, calling for a decisive response to Russia’s aggression.
