China poses challenge to NATO and collective West - Stoltenberg
NATO does not consider China an adversary, but is convinced that Beijing poses a challenge, states NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg.
"NATO does not consider China an adversary, but it challenges our values, interests, and security," said the head of the alliance.
Stoltenberg also noted that China poses a danger to Taiwan and neighboring countries. He suspected China of providing military support to Russia and stated that Beijing is fueling the largest war in Europe since World War II.
China's relations with US and Western countries
Earlier, US Ambassador to Beijing Nicholas Burns stated that China does not maintain neutrality but has effectively sided with Russian President Vladimir Putin in the war against Ukraine.
Burns later added that Beijing misjudged the impact on its relations with Europe when it supported Russia in the war against Ukraine. Ties between the world's second-largest economy and Western democracies are weakening.
Specifically, China and Russia have found alternative payment methods following the expansion of US sanctions.
Additionally, Chinese President Xi Jinping declared that China will seek ways to resolve the crisis in Ukraine in its manner.
