China calls Russian drones over Poland a 'spillover effect of the Ukraine crisis'

China believes that the intrusion of Russian drones into Polish airspace is a “spillover effect of the Ukraine crisis.” Beijing calls to “remain calm," according to the statement from Geng Shuang, Deputy Permanent Representative of China to the UN, at a UN Security Council meeting.
The Chinese representative called on “all parties to remain calm and exercise restraint.” In his opinion, disputes must be properly resolved through dialogue and consultations. Shuang noted that it is necessary to prevent the escalation of the conflict.
“In the current situation, any misunderstanding or misjudgment will deepen the trust deficit. Any confrontational rhetoric may fuel escalation. Any military friction could trigger wider turmoil,” Shuang said.
He called the incident with Russian drones in Poland a “spillover effect of the Ukraine crisis.” He recalled “some positive momentum” in dialogue and negotiations, but on a number of key issues, the positions of the parties "remain far apart.”
“China calls on all parties to adhere to the three principles: no expansion of the battlefields, no escalation of hostilities, and no fanning flames,” he added.
Russian drones in Poland
During Russia’s attack on Ukraine on the night of September 10, drones entered Poland's airspace. Aircraft weapons were used against them. It was the first time that Polish aviation shot down drones that violated the country’s airspace.
In total, debris from 16 Russian drones that entered its territory during the attack was found in Poland. Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk stated that the country’s airspace was violated at least 19 times.
NATO activated Article 4 of the North Atlantic Treaty due to the intrusion of Russian drones into Poland.
