Children’s Protection Day moved to November: Zelenskyy explains decision

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy explained why he signed a decree to move Children's Protection Day from June 1 to November 20.
"For quite a long time — and unfortunately more out of inertia than genuine intention — Children's Protection Day was celebrated in Ukraine on June 1," Zelenskyy said. "However, each year, more and more civil society organizations and educational institutions have been paying attention to Universal Children's Day, which is observed in the fall, on November 20. I signed a decree that aligns Ukrainian practice with the global one."
He reminded that it was on November 20 that the Declaration of the Rights of the Child was adopted in 1959, and the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child in 1989. In addition, the president announced the launch of a special award in Ukraine — Maibutnie Ukraiiny (The Future of Ukraine).
"Olena and I will present it for the first time next week to the bravest boys and girls — those who helped save lives, who showed extraordinary resilience, and whom we can all be proud of. Next week, I will personally thank them on behalf of all of Ukraine. And we will make this award, this expression of gratitude, our new tradition," the president said.
