Ukraine moves Children's Protection Day from June 1 - New date revealed

Children's Protection Day in Ukraine will no longer be celebrated on June 1. According to Presidential Decree No. 355, signed by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, it has been moved to November 20.
Zelenskyy decreed that Children's Protection Day is moved to November 20 —the date of World Children’s Day
Previously, Children's Day in Ukraine was celebrated annually on the first day of summer — June 1.
The decree was adopted to establish the protection of childhood as a national priority and to strengthen cooperation with the international community in protecting the rights and best interests of the child. The document emphasizes the importance of implementing the provisions of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.

International Children's Day was first established in November 1949, during a session of the Women's International Democratic Federation in Paris.
The first celebration of International Children's Day occurred in 1950 in 51 countries worldwide.
As a reminder, according to the Office of the Prosecutor General, since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, over 2,500 children have been affected by hostilities and shelling — 630 of them have died.
