Chemical plant attacked in Tula region: Center for Countering Disinformation
On the night of November 9, drones attacked the Tula region. The chemical plant in the city of Alexin was hit, according to a Telegram post by Andriy Kovalenko, head of the Center for Countering Disinformation (CCD).
"The chemical plant in Alexin, Tula region, was attacked," he said.
According to Kovalenko, in 2013, the plant resumed the production of composite press materials AG-4S and began manufacturing press material TZS-1F, which met the needs of the rocket and space industries as well as conventional weapons.
What is known about this chemical plant?
According to open sources, the enterprise is a multi-profile chemical production facility specializing in the manufacture of polymer and composite materials, as well as other civilian products.
The plant also works in the areas of capital construction, the elimination of hazardous facilities, land reclamation, and provides services in the field of engineering. The plant occupies an area of 402 hectares.
Furthermore, on July 20, 2023, amid Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, the Alexin Chemical Plant was added to the US sanctions blacklist because it manufactures ammunition, "as well as polymers, paints, and composite materials for Russia's military-industrial complex." On February 23, 2024, the plant was included in the EU sanctions list for "supplying products to state-owned enterprises producing gunpowder, ammunition, and explosives for the Russian Armed Forces."
Drone attack in Tula region
Explosions were heard in the Alexin area of the Tula region during the night of November 9. The region's air defense systems were active due to the air attack.
It was reported that explosions were heard multiple times throughout the night in Alexin, and local residents spoke of an attack involving drones.
