North Korean soldiers are already near the front line in the Kursk region, where they are expected to train in the use of FPV drones, states Andrii Kovalenko, head of the Center for Countering Disinformation at the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, in a comment to The Washington Post.

According to Kovalеnko, North Korean soldiers are training to operate FPV drones in "actual combat conditions" in the Kursk region.

The head of the Center for Countering Disinformation noted that within three months, the North Koreans could replace Russian soldiers. However, Kovalenko added that Ukraine has identified the locations of the North Korean troops.

"We know that there are North Koreans in these positions, and those positions have been hit. I cannot comment on casualties," he said.

North Korean soldiers in the Kursk region

It was reported by Defense Intelligence at the end of October that North Korean soldiers had been deployed to the Kursk region.

Recently, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, citing Ukrainian intelligence data, claimed that around 11,000 North Koreans are already concentrated in the Kursk region.

Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov noted that Ukrainian forces have already encountered North Koreans in combat. Reuters sources in the US confirmed this information, specifying that the battle took place in the Kursk region.

According to Umerov, Ukraine expects a more significant involvement of North Korean soldiers in the fighting in the coming weeks.
