Easter 'ceasefire'

In early April, Ukraine proposed a ceasefire to Russia for the Easter period and beyond. However, Russia did not respond clearly, and Kremlin head Vladimir Putin only announced on April 9 that the ceasefire would last from April 11 to April 12.

Despite the declared ceasefire, by the evening of April 11, Russians had violated the claimed regime 469 times since 4:00 PM. By the morning of April 12, this number had risen to 1,723 cases.

Media also reported that, according to Presidential Office head Kyrylo Budanov, the Easter truce between Ukraine and Russia would not be long-lasting. He believes the situation will resemble last year: quiet over Easter, but with continued ceasefire violations followed by renewed active hostilities.
