Ceasefire in Black Sea: What surveillance technologies Ukraine and its allies use

Ukrainian military personnel, together with their allies, are closely monitoring the situation in the Black Sea. According to a spokesperson for the Ukrainian Navy, Dmytro Pletenchuk, there is both the political will and enough technical means for this.
He mentioned that Ukrainian sailors, as well as other branches of the military, are overseeing the situation in the Black Sea using various monitoring tools for surface, underwater, and air conditions.
Pletenchuk also emphasized that the Black Sea is not just a Ukrainian-Russian issue. There are four other countries involved, three of which are NATO members, and they have all the necessary monitoring capabilities to assess the situation fully. He added that all of this is being done under international law.
Furthermore, the spokesperson pointed out that there are no technical difficulties in monitoring the ceasefire in the Black Sea. According to him, it is possible to track the adherence to the ceasefire regime because the Black Sea area is not that large. The only thing needed for this is political will.
"This can include the naval component, the air component - aircraft are constantly present in the Black Sea, monitoring the situation. There are satellite tools, and in fact, a wide range of instruments," Pletenchuk stated.
Ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia
On March 23-24, talks took place in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia) between the US delegation and representatives from Ukraine and Russia, where a ceasefire was discussed.
As a result of the discussions, the parties agreed to cease strikes on vessels in the eastern part of the Black Sea and to prohibit the use of commercial ships for military purposes. Ukrainian forces have the right to respond if the agreement is violated by Russia.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted that the ceasefire agreement in the Black Sea concerns civilian shipping and ports but does not apply to Russian military vessels.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Russia is attempting to take control of the food corridor in the Black Sea, but the Ukrainian Armed Forces will not allow the aggressor to do so.
