Casualties and destruction: Consequences of Russian ballistic and drone attack on Kyiv

Russian troops attacked Kyiv and its suburbs with ballistic missiles and drones during the night of May 7. Due to the enemy’s shelling, there are casualties, including children, among the wounded, according to the RBC-Ukraine report.
The Russian army launched a drone over Ukraine as early as the evening of May 6. In addition, around 1:00 a.m. Kyiv time, the Ukrainian Air Force reported a threat of ballistic missile use from the northeast direction.
The Russians launched a ballistic missile toward Kyiv. Later, enemy drones reached the capital.
As the Kyiv City Military Administration reported, one ballistic missile and 28 Russian drones were detected in the airspace over the capital. Air defense forces intercepted the ballistic missile, and the downed missile fell in the Solomianskyi district.
Also, 11 enemy drones were shot down over Kyiv and its outskirts. Another 10 UAVs left the capital's airspace, and three were lost locally.
Consequences of Russian attack on Kyiv
Solomianskyi district
The downed Russian missile fell in the Solomianskyi district. Non-residential infrastructure was damaged. The fire at the site was extinguished by 3:00 a.m. Kyiv time. One person was injured. A drone also crashed in an open area.
Dniprovskiy district
A drone fell on a multi-story residential building. There was partial destruction of the structure on the 29th and 30th floors (shared balcony). There was no fire and no injuries.
Sviatoshynskyi district
Debris struck a nine-story residential building. Fires broke out in apartments on the 6th through 9th floors. The fire, which covered 100 square meters, was extinguished. Five people were rescued - an adult and four children (three of the children with burns were hospitalized). Among the injured were a 13-year-old boy and his 8-year-old sister.
Shevchenkivskyi district
A five-story residential building was damaged as a result of the attack. Fires were recorded in apartments on the 3rd and 5th floors. While extinguishing the fire, the bodies of two people were discovered.
Holosiivskyi district
Police reported that a business center building was damaged.
According to the Kyiv City Military Administration, two deaths and six injuries have been confirmed, including four children. Information about two additional injured persons is being verified.
Meanwhile, police report seven people injured. According to law enforcement, in Sviatoshynskyi district, another resident of the damaged building sought medical assistance due to an acute stress reaction. She was treated on the spot.
Strike on Sofiivska Borshchahivka
The State Emergency Service of Ukraine reported that at 4:36 a.m. Kyiv time, rescuers received a report of a strike in the village of Sofiivska Borshchahivka near Kyiv. Due to a drone attack, a fire broke out, and structural elements were destroyed on the 2nd floor of a ten-story residential building in one of the housing complexes.
Fortunately, there were no casualties or injuries.
