In the Snihurivska community of Mykolaiv region, a light vehicle with two men on board detonated an anti-personnel mine, according to the State Emergency Service (SES).

According to rescuers, two men were driving on a field road near the village of Yevhenivka in the Snihurivska community in search of firewood. During the movement, an explosion occurred, and as a result of the detonation of an explosive device, the vehicle sustained significant damage.

According to the SES, the individuals remained unharmed, but they couldn't reach a safe area on their own as the minefield was quite densely laid out.

"A group was sent to help the men. Experts evacuated the individuals by creating a safe corridor about 140 meters long. Upon inspecting the detonation site, pyrotechnics specialists determined that the citizens had driven over an anti-personnel mine," rescuers reported.

Demining in Ukraine

Due to the Russian invasion in Ukraine and active hostilities, our country is contaminated with explosive objects. Some analysts consider Ukraine to be the most mined country in the world.

According to the estimates of the Ukrainian government, approximately 30% of the territory remains mined and contaminated with unexploded ordnance. It is expected that the clearance of these hazards will take at least 10 years.

The State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SES) reported that Ukrainian pyrotechnicians have already neutralized 459,472 explosive objects since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion.
