Canada to provide nearly $270 million for interceptor missiles for Ukraine

Canada provides Ukraine with funds for interceptor missiles
Canada has allocated 350 million Canadian dollars (about $270 million) to purchase interceptor missiles for Ukraine’s air defense systems, Carney said.
He said Canada and Ukraine had finalized an agreement to purchase critical air defense interceptors through the JUMPSTART mechanism. The $350 million package will help protect Ukrainian civilians, the country’s infrastructure and its airspace. He added that Canada would also:
- contribute funds to the Ukraine Energy Support Fund;
- provide 430 million Canadian dollars (about $330 million) in loan guarantees to support Ukraine's natural gas procurement over the winter.
Carney also said Canada would work closely with Ukraine on energy and critical minerals to ensure reliable supply chains.
According to him, Canada is also working closely with its European allies to establish a joint fund to support Ukrainian veterans.
Earlier, RBC-Ukraine reported that Ukraine and Canada had signed a 100-year partnership declaration, elevating bilateral relations to the level of a comprehensive strategic alliance and establishing long-term support.
In addition, Canada recently provided Ukraine with a major air defense assistance package to help protect its skies.
