Can US force Russia into ceasefire? Ukraine's Foreign Minister comments

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha stated that if Russia refuses the ceasefire proposal, the United States may impose sanctions. Sybiha emphasized the importance of diplomatic pressure in achieving peace in an interview with RBC-Ukraine.
Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine pointed out that the US is actively working with Russia to obtain a clear position on the ceasefire.
In Sybiha's view, if the Kremlin responds negatively, Ukraine can expect increased pressure from the US.
"We proceed from the fact that the American side is currently in contact with the Russian side to obtain this position. My opinion is that a negative response, a refusal from the Russian side regarding this proposal, presumes to apply the necessary elements of pressure on the Russians to achieve peace," Sybiha stated.
According to the Ukrainian Foreign Minister, key tools for pressure include diplomatic measures, particularly sanctions, which could be applied to achieve the desired result.
Earlier, Ukraine accepted the US proposal for a ceasefire with Russia for 30 days. On March 13, US officials began discussions on this issue with the Russian side. However, Moscow has not yet given a definitive answer.
Meanwhile, Russian dictator Vladimir Putin expressed concern about "nuances," particularly Ukrainian troops in the Kursk region and the supply of Western weapons to Ukraine.
At the same time, the US has already threatened to impose the harshest sanctions on Russia if it refuses to stop the war.
President Zelenskyy also explained what conditions the ceasefire with Russia depends on.
