Can Putin benefit from halting strikes on energy infrastructure: Political analyst's view

Russia has agreed to a mutual halt in strikes on energy infrastructure due to suffering from Ukrainian attacks, says Ukraine's political analyst Taras Zahorodnii in a comment to RBC-Ukraine.
According to him, Russian President Vladimir Putin attempted to secure his desired outcome during negotiations with former US President Donald Trump.
"All this talk about stopping attacks on energy infrastructure means only one thing: the Russians are suffering greatly from these strikes. Because only in such cases do they start making 'goodwill gestures'," the expert added.
He emphasized that such attacks serve as a pressure tool for Ukraine. The Security Service of Ukraine, using drones, has been systematically damaging Russia’s oil refining facilities.
"Now missiles are flying, which is very bad news for the Russians. Something heavy has started hitting them, and they’re getting nervous," Zahorodnii noted.
Putin-Trump conversation
On March 18, US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin held a phone conversation.
The parties discussed the US proposal for a ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia. However, Putin only agreed to a partial ceasefire related to strikes on energy infrastructure.
According to the Kremlin, the Russian leader allegedly ordered his military to stop attacks on Ukraine’s energy facilities.
