Cabinet of Ministers extends ban on Russian goods for year
The Cabinet of Ministers extended the ban on imports of goods originating in Russia for another year, according to the member of parliament Oleksii Honcharenko.
Resolution No. 1147 “On the Prohibition of Importation of Goods Originating from the Russian Federation into the Customs Territory of Ukraine” dated 30 December 2015 was extended until 31 December 2025 (inclusive).
Decrees of 2015
In December 2015, the Government adopted two decrees restricting trade with Russia. This was due to the fact that Russia unilaterally terminated the CIS Free Trade Agreement with Ukraine on January 1, 2016, and thus imposed import duties on goods of Ukrainian origin.
Both documents are extended every year in December.
In particular, the Resolution No. 1147 banned a wide range of Russian goods, both industrial and food.
Resolution No. 1146 set import duty rates for goods originating in the Russian Federation. Earlier, the government extended the resolution on duties on Russian goods for a year in accordance with the WTO agreement.
After the start of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, all trade with Russia was banned, Russian banks in Ukraine were nationalized, and the circulation of the ruble was prohibited.
