The pace of the Russian army's offensive slowed down in February. Casualties, including those killed and wounded on the front lines, decreased to 35,000 people, according to the UK Ministry of Defence on Twitter (X).

As highlighted in the report, Russia's average daily losses in February 2025 amounted to 1,255 people, which is the lowest daily average since August 2024.

The total number of recorded Russian losses in February amounted to 35,140 people, approximately 13,000 fewer than in January, when the second-highest monthly toll was recorded.

According to British intelligence, since the beginning of 2025, Russia has lost about 90,000 people on the front lines, and since the start of the invasion of Ukraine, the losses have reached 875,000 people.

"The decrease in recorded losses, which remains high, likely reflects a slowdown in the pace of Russian operations and attacks. The level of Russian losses is likely to continue averaging over 1,000 people per day in March 2025, while rushed infantry assaults will continue along multiple directions," noted the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense.

January 2025 was the second most costly month of the war for Russia, with a total loss of 48,240 people (killed and wounded). January 2025 also marked the second-highest average daily losses for Russia in the war against Ukraine, at 1,556 people.

According to British intelligence, after three years of conflict, Russia's ground forces have undergone radical changes. Russia now relies on mass rather than quality to continue its war against Ukraine.
