British intelligence assessed successes of Ukrainian Armed Forces near Velyka Novosilka
The situation in the area near the village of Velyka Novosilka in the south of the Donetsk region has stabilized. Occupying forces in this direction are currently on the defensive, reports the UK Ministry of Defence.
British intelligence noted that in June-July, the situation in the Velyka Novosilka area was very difficult. Intense fighting occurred there, including to the west of the town of Vuhledar.
Over the past four weeks, the situation in this area has stabilized. According to British intelligence, during the summer, Ukraine has liberated at least 125 square kilometers of territory in this direction.
At the same time, the Ukrainian offensive actions have tied down units of the 36th and 5th General Armies of the Russian Federation, as well as airborne forces, preventing them from reinforcing other areas. Intelligence suggests that Russia is unlikely to withdraw its troops from this axis over the next six weeks.
"While the situation in this direction has stabilized, Russian forces are likely to remain in defensive positions to protect themselves from potential future Ukrainian offensive operations," the report said.

Fighting in the Berdiansk direction
In the summer, Ukrainian Forces intensified their offensive actions in the Zaporizhzhia and Donetsk regions. Battles were particularly fierce along the administrative boundary of these two regions, which the General Staff referred to as the Berdiansk direction.
Additionally, defenders managed to liberate several settlements in the Berdiansk direction. However, as of now, the Ukrainian offensive in this direction has paused.
Currently, the Ukrainian forces are continuing their offensive operation in the Melitopol direction and to the south of Bakhmut.
