Britain will consider options to strengthen NATO’s air defense over Poland following the incident involving the incursion of Russian drones, states British Defense Secretary John Healey, according to Sky News and Reuters.

Healey assured that Britain will support Poland as a NATO ally and promised that London will participate in protecting the Polish people.

"Following our discussions today, I've asked our UK armed forces to look at options to bolster NATO's air defence over Poland," the minister said after meeting with representatives from France, Germany, Italy, Poland, and Ukraine.

The British Defense Secretary also added that Russia’s comments on the violation of Polish airspace "were no surprise," criticizing the Kremlin’s attempts to evade responsibility.

Healey also reminded that just six weeks ago, British fighter jets were stationed in Poland as part of a NATO mission. The mission also included sending 200 additional soldiers to Poland. Previously, there were 300 British soldiers on Polish territory.

"We will do what we can as part of NATO, as part of a collective response that Poland has asked for from us, its NATO allies," the minister said.

Russian drone incursion into Poland

On the night of September 10, during another massive Russian strike on Ukraine, 19 Russian attack drones entered Polish territory.

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk reported that the air defense system engaged the targets, but only four drones were shot down.

The Russian Ministry of Defense claimed that the drones were allegedly not targeting any objects in Poland.

More details about the incident can be found in the RBC-Ukraine report.
